This time of year, I always look forward to the annual industry “announcement” of Color of the Year. This year Pantone’s Radiant Orchid splashes across our senses like a strong shout of WAKE UP! I LOVE IT! However, not so sure how my clients and friends feel about this bold, fresh, splash of the tropics.
Anticipating questions like…what do you do with that color?... I thought advice on how to incorporate Radiant Orchid into your life would be timely. I will offer some ways to design a room using Radiant Orchid as the primary color. Following articles will provide inspiration to incorporate Radiant Orchid as compliment to a color scheme and then as an accent in a space.
Deciding to create a color scheme of Radiant Orchid for a space in your home is an exciting adventure. Your initial inclination might be to use the full strength of the color. But in reality, there is a wide range of tints, shades & hues of Radiant Orchid that can fit any design, style or mood you want to create. In this dining room, the walls are full throttle Radiant Orchid, seating a softer version with black selected for contrast. Drop crystal chandelier, gold and glass for blinge accents against Radiant Orchid. Light from the window and white on the ceiling lighten up the viusal weight of the color scheme. Great environment for your heart’s desire!
A more sublte color scheme can be created using a tint of Radiant Orchid. Designed very simply with shades of black, grey & white, these elements fashion an understated, sophisticated palette at home with any interior.
What if you yearn for both? Blending Radiant Orchid shades with greys & creams, add some geometry and you have a striking wall treatment anchoring a refined color scheme. Again, some bling, reflection and mix of texures lift light into this color scheme.
Radiant Orchid solo, softened or mixed with other shades generates interesting and inviting enviroments. Give it a chance, I know you will love it!
